- In an effort to push TD-SCDMA subscriber growth, China Mobile recently revealed a new policy that includes three preferential elements for subscribers, Xinhua News reported. The three elements include: subscribers do not need to change numbers and SIM cards when switching to the TD-SCDMA network, enabling 2G subscribers to continue using their phone numbers and SIM cards; subscribers also are not required to register, which allows 2G subscribers to upgrade to the TD-SCDMA network without any extra registration processes.

The new policy will be initially implemented in Tianjin, Xiamen, and Shenzhen and then gradually to 10 and 28 cities where, respectively, the first and second phases of the TD-SCDMA network construction took place.

- With the company receiving approval from China's MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) to participate in the deployment of TD-SCMDA equipment, NSN (Nokia Siemens Networks) recently announced that it will increase its number of TD-SCDMA trained engineers to over 1,200, according to a report by Sohu News on October 14.

- In the wake of the plan unveiled by the company to deploy trial networks leveraging 4G TD-LTE technology in selected cities in 2010 as previously reported, China Mobile recently affirms that it has set up a TD-LTE team with the support of China's government authorities, including the MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology), MST (Ministry of Science and Technology), and NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission), according to a report by Communications World, a Chinese media source affiliated with China's MIIT.
